Lonja de Conil de la Frontera (Conil de la Frontera Fish Market)

General information

Ruta Del Mar Lonja
Located in the fishing port, it is a reference in fish marketing

The Conil fish market is located in the fishing port of Cabo Roche. It was built in 1996 and in 1997 it began its main activity, the commercialisation of fishing products.

The predominant fishing in Conil is artisanal, local fishing, which is favoured by the great wealth of species in the area. Conil's fish has a designation of origin and is of great gastronomic interest.

Since 1998, the fish market has been using a computerised auction system that combines the essence of tradition with new technological advances.
In this fish market, which is a benchmark of national quality, a wide variety of fish is sold, such as swordfish, red mullet, red snapper or bocinegro, conger eel, forkbeard, breca, feathered sea bream, octopus and cuttlefish, among others.

Immediately after arrival in port, all the fish is taken to the fish market for classification and labelling, and then auctioned. The fish auction is of great interest, both for the way it is carried out and for the variety of fish in the area.
