Calas de Roche Trail

General information

Sendero Desde El Faro Roche A La Cala Encendida
Calas de Roche Trail

The path starts at the Roche lighthouse and runs along the upper part of the cliffs to the Roche housing estate.  Next to the Roche lighthouse there is a viewpoint from where you can enjoy fantastic views of the entire coastline, which can also be seen along the entire route.

Along the path there are different species of vegetation typical of the area, such as mastic trees, palmettos, rosemary and the main species is the maritime juniper, which is protected and considered a vulnerable species.

Along the route, there is also a viewpoint for bird watching, a strategic point for the observation of different species of birds, among which we can find the spoonbill (Platalea leucoria), as Cape Roche is considered the most important migratory corridor of spoonbills between the Iberian Peninsula and Africa.

During the course of the trail you can visit the five coves that precede the Roche urbanisation: Cala del Tío Juan de Medina, Cala Áspero, Cala del Pato, Cala del Frailecillo and, finally, Cala Encendida. All of them have fine golden sands.

The starting point of the trail (Faro Roche lighthouse) can be easily reached on foot or by car, as there is a car park.

The trail starts at the beginning of the Roche housing development. It can be reached via the N-340 road (Cádiz-Tarifa) or from Conil de la Frontera via the CA-4202 (Espigón de Conil). You can also start in the opposite direction from the Cabo Roche lighthouse.
