General information

Virgen Del Carmen Con Procesión Marítima
Procession of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors

On the 16th of July the festivity of the Virgen del Carmen is celebrated. Following tradition, Holy Mass is celebrated in the morning in the Capilla del Espíritu Santo (Chapel of the Holy Spirit), officiated by the local parish priest. Afterwards, the image of the Virgin is taken to the fishing port for the embarkation of the seafaring Virgen del Carmen and the traditional maritime procession along the coast of Conil, accompanied by the boats of the Conil fishermen.

At the end of the day, in the evening, the image of Nuestra Señora del Carmen makes its procession from the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, passing through the fishermen's neighbourhood and the historic centre of Conil.
