Cruz de Moreno

General information

20965.jpeg

These crosses were placed at the beginning of the roads that led from Conil; these were places where the travellers, when leaving, asked for protection for the road they were going to undertake, and when they returned, they prayed and thanked for the protection obtained during the trip. There were six crosses, of which four remain: the Cruz de Moreno, the Cruz del Santo, the Cruz de las Ánimas and the Cruz del Paso. Their forms and materials are diverse, but all have in common that they are made of a cross of stone or iron on a pedestal with religious images or symbols.
