It is the perfect place to enjoy the nature of the coastiline in its most unspoilt state. Castilnovo Meadow is an area that runs parallel to the beach, from the Salado River to Palmar Beach in Vejer de la Frontera, so there are areas in common with ZEC Salado River. This area is very rich in biodiversity, as well as being a beautiful landscape and possessing heritage remains, such as the Tower of Castilnovo, an old watchtower that was used for the defence and surveillance of the coastline. In addition to this construction, the Castilnovo Meadow is home to a great variety of bird species, such as the Eremita Ibis or the Kentish Plover, among others. The meadow can be walked along 3.5 kilometre trail, which stars after crossing the bridge over the Salado River to the Conilete River. The Castilnovo Trail has received the Blue Trail recognition, a distinction awarded to itineraries and landscape elements that link beaches or ports with a Blue Flag and contribute to the sustainable use of the coastline.
