Rio Salado to Castilnovo Tower Trail

General information

Desembocadura Del Río Salado II
The trail starts at the Rio Salado and ends at the Castilnovo Tower.

It is a 3.3 km trail of low difficulty. It is classified by ADEAC as a Blue Trail, as it is an itinerary that links beaches with a Blue Flag (Playa de los Bateles and Playa El Palmar) and contributes to the sustainable use of the coastline.

The trail starts at the bridge over the Salado River and runs through the Prado de Castilnovo meadow until it reaches the Castilnovo Tower. During the route you can observe historical remains such as wells, remains of the settlement, a bunker, the demarcation of a tuna trap; and a beautiful natural environment made up of wetlands with unique species of fauna and flora in a protected area, of high landscape value, free of buildings despite being on the coastline, parallel to a virgin beach.

During this trail you can enjoy direct contact with nature, the union between land and water, and even have the chance to see a multitude of bird species, some of them protected, such as the Eremita ibis or the kentish plover, among others, as this route is considered an ideal place for bird watching.
