Ruta Por El Casco Antiguo
First building of Conil and gave its name to this municipality until the 16th century, and until the 17th century

The Guzmán Tower is one of the most emblematic monuments of the city of Conil, in baroque style, it belonged to the castle of Guzmán el Bueno.
It was the first building in Conil and gave its name to this municipality until the 16th century, and until the 17th century, as Conil-Torre de Guzmán.
Built in the early 14th century on the initiative of D. Alonso Pérez de Guzmán "El Bueno", it was the nucleus around which the population of Conil began to grow. By popular request, Don Enrique de Guzmán, Count of Niebla, ordered the construction of a walled enclosure around the Tower to provide shelter when there was danger.
The building formed part of the old castle and walls that safeguarded the town. It was a noble residence where the dukes stayed during the tuna fishing season, which they liked to supervise personally. Around this tower the so-called Plaza de Santa Catalina was built, the main square of the town of Conil until well into the 19th century.
In 1784 it was given the appearance it has today, thanks to a remodelling carried out by the Provincial Delegation of Culture.
It was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (ACI) in 1985.
